Endangered Tales of the Philippines
The Philippines has been recognized as a small archipelagic country whose level of biological endemism is without equal even within the indo-malayan biogeographic realm. This means that the Philippines not only hosts a remarkable large number of species but also supports the greatest concentration of unique biological diversity currently known on the planet.
We realized that no single film documentary had been made on the rich biodiversity of our country and not long after completing Children of the Mountains, set out to begin our next project: a comprehensive documentary that would celebrate the beauty of our islands.
With over 10 months of filming, 20 expeditions and currently 80 hours of tape, Endangered Tales of the Philippines was joy and a challenge to make (finding animals in the wild to film can be tricky). The extraordinary footage we captured features unique scenes of endangered species in the wild and never-before revealed commentaries by local and foreign conservationists, animal hunters, politicans and biologists. The documentary was premiered on April 22 at a special Earth Day event run by our organization.
