Children of the Mountains
Our first documentary came about almost by chance. We stumbled upon the Agta Dumagat tribe in 2002 and were immediately drawn to their story. After six months of living with over 20 members of their tribe, we knew we had something. Children of the Mountains is the story of a vanishing people and culture. Over 32 minutes of the documentary expresses the anguish and frustration of a people who are being pushed out of their ancestral domain.
We entered Children of the Mountains at ten international film festivals and came out with awards at three of them, the most notorious being the Mark Hasslem Planet in Focus award. The documentary inspired us to start the Moonrise Film festival and has been shown in schools all over the Philippines.
The beginning of our venture into media, Children of the Mountains has a very special place in our hearts, and we want to share the story with the rest of the world. We are crossing our fingers in the hopes that someone will pick up the documentary for international distribution, so if you are interested to help, we would be delighted.
